Sinterklaas huis
(Family event ), (01/12/2002)

On Sunday the 1st of December we went to visit St Nicolaas at his (holiday) house in Dordrecht. When we arrived we noticed that we weren’t the only ones who wanted to see how he lives when he is in Holland.

There was a big queue, but Zwarte Piet made sure we that we didn’t get bored. He made us do the wave, sing songs, and gave us pepernoten.

Finally the doors opened, and we could see how “pepernoten” were made, and the kids could decorate a taai taai. In the living room, Zwarte Pieten were busy reading stories to groups of children.

Sinterklaas’ bedroom was beautiful, but you could not go in to the room itself. The man needs privacy (we know)!. In the gym, the kids could do some exercise to see if they qualified to be a Zwarte Piet, climbing, jumping, cycling....

There was a room full of presents, We checked, and there were enough presents with our names on them. In the bathroom was a beautiful bath with golden taps, and the mail room, were all the lists from the kids. In the last room was St Nicolaas himself.

He took our drawings and we could take a picture. He had enough time for the kids... It was a pleasant trip, and worth it as well. The parents enjoyed it almost as much as the kids.
