Drunense Duinen (Walk and Picknick)
(Family event ), (23/03/2003)

It was Sunday morning, the sun was shining and we set off for the Drunense Duinen, bag full of buckets, spades, blankets and of course, a packed lunch.

When everyone had arrived we all followed a couple of members, as they had been there a week or two before and had found the perfect spot for our picnic. We walked through the woods and into the 'duinen' and had to climb a hill.

One heavily pregnant member did very well considering she was almost 8 months pregnant and had to carry her daughter’s wheel-barrow too.

We laid our blankets out and the kids wasted no time and started playing in the sand with their buckets and spades. One little girl was in her element with the trees behind us, I think she spent most of her time climbing in them.

The older kids loved running up and down the hill. Whilst one girl collected ladybirds, another couple of two year old girls played in the sand close by us.

It was a warm day and a couple of fair skinned members had sunburn. We all thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the sun watching the children play and chatting away to each other. It was very relaxing.

The men played football with the kids and each other. We girls played games with them like, the wheel-barrow race, what’s the time Mr. Wolf, 'Schipper mag ik overvaren' and 'zakdoekje leggen'.

It was a day packed full of fun for everyone. Before we knew, it was time to pack-up and go home. We walked towards the car park (all down hill I must say) and stopped off for an ice-cream.

When we arrived home many kids were black from head to toe, so the first thing we did was bath them, afterwards we had our evening meal and that night we all slept soundly.
