First Aid Course
(Parents/Adults ), (06/06/2005)

This was the second part of the CPR course and it was held in a nice relaxed atmosphere at one of our member’s house. After a cup of tea and a quick chat, we got to work.

There were nine of us and most had already done the first course in Dordrecht last year. This time we concentrated on the practical side of things, as last time we did lots of theory too. It’s amazing how quickly you forget all the small details about giving CPR, and is definitely worth regularly practicing just in case an emergency occurs.

There were three dummies to practice on, a baby, young child and an adult to make sure we could be confident in any situation. We did CPR on each of them and practiced what to do if they were choking. It was good to hear situations that the teacher has had to deal with himself which make you more aware of things that could happen and maybe could be prevented (eg. locks on windows and keeping poisonous substances out of reach).

It was a really interesting course to do and yet so important, I hope we can do another one in the future.
