Panto ‘Babes in the Wood’

On Sunday 30th January a group of us traveled over to the Cascade theatre in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht to watch the theatre group I.D.E.A. perform the pantomime 'Babes in the Wood'. The children were especially excited as we found our seats & waited for the show to begin.

There were all the usual 'Panto' ingredients with plenty of audience participation, especially for the wicked Sheriff of Nottingham (boo hiss !) and his gang. Worth a mention too was the very entertaining 'pantomime dame' who really got the audience joining in with the sing-a-long songs. I think one of the girls favourite had to be 'YMCA' as she was seen dancing in the aisle and waving her arms along to the movements! Another girl liked it when they played Michael Jackson’s 'Thriller' which was accompanied by a darkened spooky dance routine with flashing lights.

Following the interval there was a great chase scene where the characters left the stage and started running around the theatre in amongst the audience. This was much to the delight of the children who were encouraged to shout out instructions about which way to go.

All in all it was a very entertaining afternoon out and we look forward to the show next year.
