Visit to the Zoo
(Family event ), (29/08/2004)

Sunday 29th August we had the ICPC subsidised outing to the zoo in Overloon. We all had an early start so that we could meet at 10.30 am at the entrance of the park. The weather was predicted to be good, although it started out chilly.

After the drive everyone enjoyed a cup of coffee, or other refreshment, while the kids could play at the playground in the meantime.

For the children there was a special game called the zoo Olympics where they had to answer questions about the animals. Afterwards they all received a gold medal! Congratulations to all of you!!

Then it was time to see some animals. The sun had come out and it warmed up quite nicely.

We decided to start with the farthest part, but a lot of the animals were very lazy or difficult to see, but we saw pelicans, camels, gibbons, storks and many others.

At 13.00 hrs we all met up again at the botanical gardens for a lunch picnic. There was a falcon show going on at the same time. It was very nice to sit down for a while.

And after lunch we saw the other parts of the park that we hadn’t seen yet: kangaroos, monkeys, the kids zoo, wallabies, lamas, etc. Too much to mention!

We enjoyed ourselves very much! It was a great place, reasonably small, with lots to see. And especially enjoyable because the weather was so good.
